HBO has sent me Game of Thrones on Blu-Ray on two separate occasions, the first product was the Steelbook Season 1 and the second was the complete 5th season. Although I’ve only watched a handful of episodes between the two seasons, I have to admit if I had to choose, I would pick Season 5 disc-set to be the product to own. (Check out my video review of the product). Click HERE to watch on mobile.
Season 5’s package is modest and sleek, after bypassing two protective sleeves, the four disc set is housed folded on one paper surface secured with plastic. It may seem cheap, but I like this practical design.

While some features are similar to the previous seasons’, such as the menu design, Season 5-specific features are included and are all located on disc 4. My favourites include: Anatomy of an Episode: Mother’s Mercy, A Day in the Life and 4 deleted scenes.
Anatomy of an Episode: Mother’s Mercy would be my number one choice as a feature. It documents the visual effects techniques used on dragons and the Hall of Faces, my favourite themes in the show.

While some features are video documentaries, The Dance of the Dragons and Histories and Lore are different. These features utilized script reading and simple motion graphics. The approach provided a charming separation from the rest of the content and a welcoming visual for my eyes.

Game of Thrones: The Complete Fifth Season on Blu-ray. Dragon
The complete 5th season of the Game of Thrones includes all the DVD features plus more such as The Dance of Dragons, In-Episode Guide, and Histories and Lore. The award winning 5th season is available on Blu-Ray starting March 15th. The content rich product accompanied with Dobly Atmos should be a good review for advent fans and new fans anticipating the premiere of Season 6 on HBO Canada April 24.
