A strip mall in Port Coquitlam was badly damaged by fire early Monday morning.
The fire broke out at about 4:20 a.m. at Martha’s Bakery & Cafe at Shaughnessy Street and McAlllister Avenue.
It took firefighters about four hours to extinguish the blaze. Initially it was being fuelled by natural gas, which was later shut off.
A total of seven businesses were destroyed or badly damaged. There are no reports of any injuries and no known cause.
B.C court records show a person with the same name and age has a lengthy record for break and enter, theft and mischief.
The investigation continues.
