A four-year-old who fell from a third floor window of an Abbotsford house will fully recover from two broken legs.
In a press release, Abbotsford Police said they were called to the 32000-block of Mt. Waddington Avenue on Saturday at about 8 p.m. to help fire and ambulance officials who were treating the child.
“The four year old had climbed up on a couch, and managed to push out a screen covering the window; falling through the opening onto the ground below,” said the press release.
“The child was taken to hospital with two fractured femurs, and is expected to make a full recovery. An adult family member was home at the time of this incident.”
“Incidents of this type are common during hot weather seasons,” the police release warned. “To prevent potential falling accidents, please make sure furniture is not placed under open windows and children cannot reach any open windows. Windows that are open even four inches can be dangerous for children. If your windows are open, using window guards or locks to ensure the window opening is no wider than four inches. Your child should be unable to fall out of a space this size.”
