Mounties in Richmond are searching for the owner of a capsized boat located Friday night by the Canadian Coast Guard in Richmond.
RCMP spokeswoman Sgt. Annie Linteau says the three-metre boat with the word “Riviera” in red lettering was located at Gravesend Reach.
She says the kill switch on the boat’s outboard motor was dislodged, indicating that a boater may have fallen off the boat.
Personal items were located by police, floating around the boat. Linteau says officers found Korean food packaging and a Korean first aid kit on the boat, indicating that the owner of the boat may be of Korean descent.
Police searched the area with the assistance of the Canadian Coast Guard and conducted an ariel search of surrounding islands in case someone swam to shore.
The boat has a white hull, black bottom, and teal stripes on the bow. It has a single outboard “Tohatsu” 9.8hp 4 stroke engine.
Anyone who has any information about this incident or the owner of the boat is asked to contact Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212.
