West Coast Express train cancelled, another significantly delayed due to mechanical problems

Commuters who use the West Coast Express faced a challenging morning Monday as a mechanical problem affected two of the five westbound trains.

Train 2 was stopped at Port Haney at about 6:25 a.m. with a mechanical issue which delayed the next train into the city. To get the system moving again, Train 3 pushed the earlier train into Waterfront Station, according to TransLink BC.

TransLink cancelled Train 2, which was delayed by about one hour, and commuters on Train 3 were expected to be about 30 minutes late.

Train 4 was also running late by about eight minutes, TransLink reported in a tweet. The final westbound train was not expected to be affected.

“We thank our passengers for their patience and regret this inconvenience,” West Coast Express said in a news release.

At least one commuters expressed irritation at the delays:
