A Maple Ridge man has pleaded guilty to one criminal offence in connection with a shooting that took place outside of a pub two years ago.
William Cody McKenna appeared in B.C. Supreme Court on Thursday and pleaded guilty to a charge of aggravated assault. He was facing two counts of attempted murder with a firearm, unlawfully discharging a firearm, possessing a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, two counts of assault with a weapon, using a firearm to commit an indictable offence and two counts of uttering threats.
The shooting happened around 2 a.m. on Sept. 29, 2013 outside the Haney Public House. Police said at the time that a patron who had been kicked out of the pub returned with a gun and fired it into a crowd of patrons and staff. Two doormen were injured.
McKenna was arrested without incident two days later near his home.
McKenna was also charged with break-and-enter last fall, after police were called to a home in east Maple Ridge. McKenna and two other men were taken into custody. Police seized a loaded gun, two prohibited weapons and cocaine.
McKenna pleaded guilty on Friday to one count of break-and-enter to commit an indictable offence. Sentencing is scheduled for May.
