Surrey RCMP are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in a break-and-enter on March 27 during which a woman in her 80s was robbed.
Police said that a male entered the woman’s home in the 9300-block of 133A Street at 8:30 a.m. When she tried to call 911, the suspect locked the doors and took away her phone. He then searched her home, took several items of value, and left. The victim was not physically injured.
The attacker is described as South Asian or Filipino in his mid-30s, five feet, 10 inches (1.78 metres) tall, with a muscular build.
The man was wearing an overly large black baseball cap with a brim that covered his ears, hair, and head. The suspect had “squinty” eyes and a very round head with a short square chin. Police released a composite sketch of the suspect.
“We’re hopeful that this composite sketch will lead to the eventual identification of the suspect,” said Cpl. Scotty Schumann. “Remember to keep your ground floor windows and doors locked, even when you are home, to reduce your risk of a break and enter.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
