An aborted takeoff by a Westjet flight bound for Maui has resulted in Vancouver International Airport closing its south runway.
The scheduled 9:42 a.m takeoff for Westjet 1876 was aborted because the Boeing 737 blew a tire, the airline says.
Emergency responders are on the scene, but there are no reports of injuries.
A YVR release says passengers were offloaded from the aircraft and transported to the terminal via bus.
Westjet says the passengers will fly to Maui on another aircraft this afternoon.
All arrivals to and departures from YVR will occur on the north runway.
