The Vancouver Police Department released a composite sketch of a person of interest in connection with a bizarre incident that resulted in the death of a 45-year-old cyclist.
On the morning of Jan. 6, Juan Pedro Loro Avis was cycling on the seawall near Science World when police say he was knocked unconscious after being struck by a heavy piece of garbage that sent him tumbling to the pavement face first.
He was rushed to hospital with severe head injuries where he was pronounced dead the next morning.
At the time of the accident, witnesses reported seeing a man rummaging through a garbage bin and throwing trash towards the bike path.
VPD are looking to identify the man and speak with this man.
He is described as First Nations, 30 to 40 years old, six-feet tall, with a medium build and shoulder-length black hair. He was wearing a black puffy jacket and dark jeans.
