Chilliwack Mounties arrested a Lower Mainland man who is wanted on murder and aggravated assault charges laid in Grand Prairie, Alberta.
Jordan Wendland, 28, was picked up Wednesday morning about 6:15 a,n, at a house in Chilliwack. He remains in custody pending his first court appearance.
RCMP major crimes investigators in Alberta had received information that Wendland had been seen in the Chilliwack area, leading to the RCMP Lower Mainland District Emergency Response Team entered a home and taking Wendland into custody without incident.
“The arrest was made possible by the combined effort of RCMP resources from Alberta and the UFVRD. These efforts re-enforce our commitment to ensuring the safety of the residents in our communities,” Cpl. Mike Rail said.
ALberta Mounties said earlier that Wendland was wanted in connection with a fatal bar stabbing in Sexsmith early Sunday morning.
Four victims were taken to hospital, where one person died.
Sexsmith is about 465 kilometres northwest of Edmonton.
