For those not familiar with the alien candidates, Kodos and Kang are recurring characters on the Simpsons. On the 1996 Halloween episode “Treehouse of Horror VII,” Kang, who won the Republican ticket by impersonating Bob Dole, was elected U.S president over Kodos, the Democrat candidate who had assumed the identity of Bill Clinton.
In today’s Canadian federal election, which (probably) doesn’t involve any aliens, the North Vancouver riding is actually being contested by incumbent Andrew Saxton (Conservative), Carleen Thomas (NDP), Jonathan Wilkinson (Liberals), Claire Martin (Green), Ismet Yetisen (Libertarian) and Payam Azad (Independent).
