More than 4,000 students and 200 teachers headed to the Pacific National Exhibition grounds Thursday to take part in Truth and Reconciliation Commission events.
Viola Thomas, the commission’s community relations representative, said most Canadians haven’t had the opportunity to learn the history about residential schools, but that the “fantastic response (to these events in B.C.) shows how thirsty educators and children are to find out the truth.”
