The soot was so pervasive in Alison Fraser Robinson’s condo near Granville Island that she found it inside her fridge. It was all over her walls, ceiling, furniture, electrical plugs, thermostat and oil paintings.
She tried to clean it off, but only succeeded in removing the dirt from slick, shiny surfaces like the outside of her kitchen appliances. The rest seemed to need professional attention.
