Andy-Oscar Owusu charged with shooting woman in downtown Vancouver

A 27-year-old Vancouver man faces assault and firearms charges after a woman was shot in a taxi cab early Monday morning in the city’s Downtown Eastside.

Vancouver police were called to the area of Abbott and West Pender streets, near International Village, just before 5 a.m. where they located a Vancouver Taxi cab with a 29-year-old woman in the back seat suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was taken to hospital with what police referred to as non-life-threatening injuries.

Andy-Oscar Owusu has been charged with discharging a firearm with intent to wound, aggravated assault and possession of a loaded firearm.

It’s believed the shooting occurred following an argument between two groups inside a nearby Tim Hortons.

Owusu is a rapper who has been known to perform under the name B-Orion and Mr. Constellations. An online profile for B-Orion says he was born and raised in Toronto.

In 2013, Owusu was convicted of assault, unlawfully being in a home and attempted unlawful confinement in connection with a Merritt home invasion.
