Key education stakeholders have joined the B.C. Teachers’ Federation (BCTF) in calling on government to make aboriginal studies an essential part of the B.C. graduation program.
Students already learn about aboriginal issues during Social Studies classes, but this proposal would require all of them to also complete a separate course, such as B.C. First Nations Studies 12 or the First Peoples course offered in Grades 10, 11 and 12.
