Pair arrested after woman found locked in Prince George motel, forced into sex trade

Prince George police are investigating a horrific case in which a woman was locked in a motel room for days and forced into prostitution.

Investigators now believe there may be other victims out there and are asking them to come forward.

On Wednesday, Prince George RCMP began investigating after it was reported a woman was possibly being held against her will in a local motel room. Upon visiting the motel, which is located in the 3600-block of Highway 97, RCMP arrested a 33-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman without incident. The pair remain in custody and were expected in court on Friday.

It is believed the victim had been there for “a number of days.” No details were released about the woman’s condition.

Jody Lee Burns, a 33-year-old man from Prince George, has been charged with trafficking in persons, forcible confinement, sexual assault with a firearm, possession of firearm while prohibited, and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Jennifer Dawn Comadina, a 34-year-old woman from Prince George, also faces three charges, including trafficking in persons, forcible confinement, and sexual assault with a firearm.

Cpl. Craig Douglass was not able to share further details due to the sensitivity of the case, but emphasized there may be more victims out there and encouraged them to come forward and speak with investigators.

Those with information are asked to contact Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
