MC2
8031 & 8131 Nunavut Lane, Vancouver
Developer: Intracorp
Sitting at the gateway to Vancouver on the Canada Line is MC2 – Intracorp’s transit-oriented, sustainable community made up of market and rental homes, commercial space, and public art.
The project, named after Einstein’s famous equation and its location at Marine and Cambie, is a mixed-use commercial and apartment development in Vancouver’s Marine Gateway community. It is built on two tall podiums of six and seven storeys that open up the view spaces between the towers and provide public access at ground level.

Cast a vote for your favourite new urban highrise and you and a guest could WIN TWO NIGHTS in a deluxe suite at the Rosewood Hotel Georgia, plus daily In-room breakfast for two. A prize package valued at approximately $1500.
Both of the project’s two towers are built to LEED Gold standards and feature sustainable building initiatives including heating and cooling by an advanced and compact Jaga Briza system, the largest of its type in North America. Other features include electric vehicle-charging stations, low-flush water systems and thermally broken aluminum windows.

There are 444 condo homes and 112 market rental units. The live-work one-bedroom, junior two-bedroom and two-bedroom homes range from 441 square feet to 1,048 square feet. Common amenities include a fitness centre and meeting rooms in the north tower, while the south tower rooftop amenities are extensive and include a lounge, fitness centre, zen garden, putting green, urban gardening plots and a greenhouse.
Given the close proximity of the Canada Line and nearby amenities, 75 per cent of MC2 residents have said that their use of public transit has increased since moving in. Plus, a significant public art sculpture entitled Golden Tree by Douglas Coupland serves as a focal point for a series of connected public outdoor spaces, and creates a very significant first impression as the arrival point between Richmond and Vancouver.

MC2 is considered a successful viable housing solution for first-time buyers in Vancouver, with 45 per cent of buyers falling into that category. The incorporation of high-quality and much-needed rental housing is considered another mark of success for the project, which now has full occupancy.
We’re inviting readers to vote for their favourite highrise from six featured in the Best Highrise category, which include Townline’s Harmony in Richmond, Denna Homes Beacon at Seylynn Village in North Vancouver, Concord’s One Pacific, Amacon’s Modern and Townline’s 99 Seymour and Intracorp’s MC2, all in Vancouver.
