Today’s culture fix includes a concert by reigning rapper Drake; a fundraiser for Ryerson Church, a venue considered by many local choirs as a favourite place to perform and record; a and an opportunity to get a head start on (please, not already) Xmas shopping at Portobello Market.
Drake
The zeitgeist-ruling rapper and mogul, who banked $39.5 million last year alone, performs a set heavy on highlights from his latest sensation Views, which dominated Spotify’s most streamed songs of the summer list, taking three of the top five positions (while his might-be-squeeze singer Rhianna took the other two). Looking to meet Drake? Maybe he’ll show up at the concert afterparty, hosted by DVSN, the Toronto act signed to his label that opens the show (Sept. 18 at Alexander in Gastown).
