The Peace Arch border crossing is now open to northbound traffic, the Canadian Border Services Agency says.

The border crossing was closed to traffic after a man tried to enter Canada and told the CBSA that his car was full of explosives, which lead to evacuation of the area.

CBSA spokeswoman Bernee Bolton told the Sun that “no devices were found” and there is “no threat to travelling public.”

The incident began unfolding just after 6 p.m. Friday evening and the Surrey RCMP was called to assist the CBSA, Surrey RCMP Sgt. D Honeyman said in a news release.

The incident is now over and things went just as expected with assistance from the Surrey RCMP, Bolton said.

A Drive BC tweet also confirmed that the crossing is open to southbound traffic.
