Female jogger grabbed on UVic trail

VICTORIA — A safety bulletin has been posted at key points around the University of Victoria after a woman jogger was grabbed by a male.

The bulletin says the woman was jogging Saturday evening on the chip trail near Gordon Head Road when she was approached from behind by a male cyclist who grabbed her “in a sexual manner” before riding away.

Campus security has posted the bulletin at key locations around the campus and will closely monitor the area where the assault was reported, the bulletin said.

Users of the chip trail are being advised to be vigilant and to contact campus security if they observe any suspicious behaviour.

In early July there was a cluster of similar incidents in a small section of Gordon Head involving a man on a skateboard and then on a bicycle.

The man exposed himself and twice touched women in a sexual manner. All the incidents were in the late afternoon or early evening. Locations were Larchwood Drive/Blair Avenue, Lambrick Park, Mileva Lane, San Juan Avenue/ Majestic Drive and the parking lot at Mount Douglas Beach.
