The two southbound lanes of the Stanley Park Causeway shut down due to water main repairs are expected to reopen at 5 a.m. Monday.
A southbound stretch of the causeway, which links downtown Vancouver to the Lions Gate Bridge, was down to one lane starting Friday 8 p.m. into the weekend as Metro Vancouver crews worked to fix a leak to a pipe that supplies half of the City of Vancouver’s water.
Drivers travelling from Vancouver to the North Shore faced traffic delays on the weekend. The partial road shutdown also diverted traffic to the Ironworkers Memorial Bridge.
The water main started leaking six weeks ago. It is spilling an estimated 430,000 litres of chlorinated water a day into Lost Lagoon.
