Additional fraud and theft charges have been laid against the former constituency assistant of an NDP MLA in Victoria.
Marni Offman, 45, was arrested and charged last month with theft over $5,000, fraud over $5,000 and causing a person to use forged documents in relation to alleged offences committed at the constituency office of Rob Fleming, the MLA for Victoria Swan-Lake.
It is believed the alleged offences are connected to as much as $120,000 in taxpayer money that went missing from Fleming’s office between March 24, 2009 and Nov. 28, 2015. Fleming said he notified police on learning of the missing funds.
Offman, who was released on $5,000 bail following her first appearance in court, is now facing two additional charges, according to B.C.’s court registry. The additional charges are fraud over $5,000 and theft over $5,000. The offence date is listed as Jan. 09, 2009.
Offman’s lawyer declined to comment on the latest charges when contacted by Postmedia.
