Schwarzenegger movie set disrupted by bank robber

That definitely wasn’t in the script: The set of a new Arnold Schwarzenegger action-comedy became the location for a real-life bank robbery.

On Thursday, while the Cloverdale location was ablaze with explosions as part of filming of Why We’re Killing Gunther, someone tried to rob a Coast Capital Savings branch right beside the set.

Not a good idea when there are a host of RCMP officers on location providing security.

“It just happened like that, and suddenly you have nine to 12 officers in five or six different vehicles all just swarm,” Paul Orazietti of the Cloverdale Business Improvement Association told CTV Vancouver.

Surrey RCMP said one of the film crew spotted a person matching the suspect’s description and told a police officer. The officer was able to track down the suspect and take him into custody.

Jeffry Ozolins, 32, of no fixed address, has been charged with robbery. He remains in custody.

“Thankfully no persons were injured during this incident,” said Cpl. Scotty Schumann. “But thanks to the film crew with a sharp eye, and the fast acting officer, this arrest was made in short order.”

Sources told CTV Schwarzenegger has already left B.C., although filming in Cloverdale continues until Saturday.

The movie, written and directed by Taran Killam and due for a 2017 release, is described on IMDB as focusing on a group of “eccentric assassins (who) are fed up with Gunther, the world’s greatest hit-man” who try but repeatedly fail to kill him off.
