Police seek suspect facing charge in Coquitlam parking lot stabbing

Police are warning the public about an “armed and dangerous” suspect wanted in a fatal stabbing that took place last Sunday in a Coquitlam mall parking lot.

Police says James Ivan Meanny, 34, is a suspect wanted in connection with the death of Robert Harold Vidovich, 65. Crown prosecutors haves approved a second-degree charge against Meanny, according to Coquitlam RCMP.

The stabbing happened on Aug. 7 in the parking lot of Shaughnessy Square Shopping Centre at 2099 Lougheed Highway. Vidovich was found with multiple stab wounds. He was taken to hospital but did not survive.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team took over the case. Police did not say whether the the suspect and the dead man knew each other.

Meanny is about 5-foot-9, approximately 150 pounds, and has several tattoos on the inside of his left forearm and left hand. 

RCMP said anyone who spots Meanny is advised not to approach him and to call 911 immediately.
