An investigation is underway after a woman died in Agassiz on Monday when a logging truck rolled over, spilling its logs on her vehicle.
Lower Mainland District RCMP said that the accident at 12:22 p.m. appears to have happened when a westbound logging truck on Lougheed Highway near East Mill Road tipped over on a curb, causing the logs to come loose.
The logs struck another vehicle and the female driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the logging truck was not injured.
A nearby power pole was knocked down as a result of the incident and BC Hydro had to turn power off to allow traffic investigators onto the scene.
Lougheed Highway between Mount Woodside and Mission was expected to be closed in both directions Monday afternoon for six to seven hours.
