With a click or two of the computer mouse, someone in B.C. has made themselves a multi-millionaire.
The B.C. Lottery Corporation said a new Canadian record was set in Saturday’s Lotto 6-49 draw. Someone purchased a ticket for the draw online at PlayNow.com and scooped up the $21 million prize, making it the largest-ever online lottery prize in Canada.
Until Saturday, the biggest online lottery win was $7.6 million, won by a Nanaimo resident in the Dec. 4, 2010 Lotto 6/49 draw.
BCLC did not say where the ticket buyer lives in B.C. but the winner’s name will be announced when they claim their prize. They have a year to come forward to collect their winnings.
PlayNow.com is the only legal online gambling website in B.C. and in the fiscal year of 2015-2016 $46.3 million was won by PlayNow.com customers.
The odds of winning a Lotto 6/49 jackpot are 1 in 13,983,816.
