There’s no better time to discover the beauty and serenity of the Nitobe Memorial Garden at the University of B.C. than right now in the heart of summer.

Nitobe Memorial Garden
The garden is at its most mellow in July and August with the call of empty, crunchy gravel paths that lead into cool, tranquil, serene green woodlands from where you can enjoy delightful, calming views of the heart-shaped lake.
This weekend is an especially good time to visit the garden because examples of ikebana – Japanese flower arrangements – will be scattered around for a special outdoor exhibition by the Vancouver branch of the Sogetsu School.

Ikebana exhibit.
This will be the group’s first large-scale outdoor exhibition and will feature work by 14 floral artists. The show is free with garden admission.
The arrangements will be on display from 11 a.m. both July 29 and 30.
Nitobe is a traditional Japanese tea and stroll garden and is considered one of the most authentic Japanese gardens in North America and among the top five Japanese gardens outside Japan.
The garden is located at 1895 Lower Mall at UBC. Admission is $6 for adults.
