The Coast Guard responded late Tuesday to a diesel spill in the water of False Creek near Burrard Bridge.
Spokeswoman Michelle Imbeau says the Coast Guard was alerted to the spill at 6:30 p.m.
She says the Coast Guard crew at the Kitsilano station responded and performed an initial assessment, determining the spill to be non-recoverable. Crews searched for a source of the spill but were unable to determine where it came from.
There is no estimate on the amount that spilled in the water.
Imbeau says within an hour, an environmental response specialist was on scene for a further assessment and confirmed the product was non-recoverable, not persistent and was dissipating.
It has been determined that the spill is likely diesel, a non-recoverable product.
The Coast Guard continued to monitor the situation until about 8:30 p.m.
