VANCOUVER — Rescue crews say a single-engine plane missing from British Columbia’s south coast has been found and all three passengers are safe.

A spokeswoman for the Joint Rescue Co-Ordination Centre in Victoria has confirmed the aircraft has been located, but could not provide any details.

The Beechcraft Musketeer plane took off from Pitt Meadows airport, east of Vancouver just before 8:30 a.m. Sunday, and the three people aboard planned to land in Pemberton before returning.

The trio was reported overdue on Sunday afternoon.

Rescuers focused their search on a 100 kilometre section of a rugged and remote valley between the northern end of Indian Arm and Pemberton.

Members of the Canadian Air Search and Rescue Association, who are civilian aviators trained to assist in aerial searches, were also called in to help.
