Vancouver police looking for victims after series of groping incidents

VANCOUVER — Police are asking victims and witnesses to come forward following a series of gropings in Downtown Vancouver Tuesday evening.

Police received a report at about 5 p.m. that a man had sexually assaulted several women on Davie St. between Granville and Burrard streets.

Police say the suspect is described as an Aboriginal in his 30s, who is about five feet and six inches tall and weighs 160 pounds. The suspect has short black hair, brown eyes and a small scar on his right cheek. He was seen wearing a black winter coat, light blue jeans and white running shoes.

“A man matching that description was arrested by police a short distance away,” VPD spokesman Randy Fincham said in a news release. “Unfortunately the women who were the victims of the sexual assaults could not be located.”

Police are asking anyone with information to call the Vancouver Police Sex Crimes Unit at 604-717-2634 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
