Police are investigating a “suspicious death” after a body was found in North Vancouver Sunday.

According to reports, a dog walker spotted the body in Lynn Creek near a train bridge west of the Second Narrows Bridge Sunday morning.

North Vancouver Mounties referred questions to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, which described the death as “suspicious” in a tweet.

On Sunday afternoon, police tape blocked off a trail at Harbourview Park that led to a pedestrian underpass underneath a train bridge adjacent to the creek.

Pirkko McQuitty comes to the park regularly to walk her dog. It’s a popular park, she said, especially on Sundays, when there’s often long lineups of cars. But the North Vancouver resident didn’t expect to see police officers in the parking lot like she did this Sunday.

“Nothing like that has happened here,” she said.

Tom Markham, who was also walking his dog, turned back at the sight of the yellow tape.

“It’s a peaceful spot, a nice place for dogs to go off-leash,” he said of the park. “It’s unfortunate that this happened. I hope police find some answers.”

Police have not released any information on the victim’s identity, saying only “it is early in the investigation, there will be no updates at this time.”
