Police seek witnesses after teen skateboarder injured in hit-and-run

A teenaged skateboarder was injured in a hit-and-run in Port Coquitlam Monday afternoon.

The police are looking for witnesses to the collision that occurred at about 3.30 PM at the intersection of Coquitlam Avenue and Vincent Street involving a 16-year-old.

The youngster was taken to hospital with minor injuries and is expected to make a full recovery, police said.

The vehicle is described as a red four-door sedan with an ‘N’ decal on the rear.

“There’s absolutely no justifiable reason why someone would leave a human being lying in the middle of the street after hitting them with their car,” said Cst. Jamie Phillipson. “Had it not been for the victim wearing his helmet, the injuries sustained would have been life-threatening.”

Anyone with information is asked to call RCMP at 604-945-1550 and quote police file 2016-15419, or Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
