CFIA recalls macaroni and potato salads sold in British Columbia

OTTAWA — Some macaroni and potato salads sold in British Columbia are being recalled due to fears they could be contaminated with Listeria.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says Oregon-based Reser’s Fine Foods Inc. is recalling Classic SYSCO brand Elbow Macaroni Salad and Reser’s brand Deviled Egg Potato Salad.

Both products are sold to hotels, restaurants and institutions in 3.63 kilogram containers. The macaroni salad has a best-before date of May 7 while the best-before date for the potato salad is April 28.

The federal agency says both salads, which are also being recalled in 29 U.S. states, should be thrown out or returned to the supplier.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with eating these products.

Food contaminated with Listeria may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. Symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness.
