B.C. firefighters are battling a wildfire that broke out Friday west of Quesnel.
Seventy-five firefighters with B.C.’s Wildfire Service are attacking the blaze, located about five kilometres northwest of Nazko, and about 90 kilometres west of Quesnel.
On Saturday, fire information officer Ryan Turcot said they still don’t know what caused the fire to break out so early in the season, but it is under investigation.
He added that the fire, burning in a remote area, is smaller than initially thought, and is now estimated to be around 300 hundred hectares.
No houses are threatened by the wildfire.
