Here’s a treat for you old grungers.
Someone has posted an entire bootleg of Nirvana’s first visit to Vancouver’s Commodore Ballroom on Youtube.
The date of show was March 8, 1991, seven months before Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl would forever change rock music with the release of Nevermind.
The Screaming Trees were actually the headliners that night. Nirvana was there as a supporting act for their Sub Pop stablemates along with Canadian bands The Doughboys and The Wongs (fronted by SNFU’s Mr. Chi Pig).

The video, posted on the RareNirvana YouTube page, contains an audio recording of the 15 songs the band played that night along with archival photos. Their set list was a mix of Breach and Nevermind tracks.
Also on YouTube is some rare video of Nirvana performing Breed at that same Commodore show.
That show was Nirvana’s second visit to Vancouver. In 1990, they played the now-defunct Town Pump.
The band later headlined at the Commodore on Oct. 30, 1991 as part of the Nevermind tour, and then returned here in 1994 for two shows at Pacific Coliseum.
