Surrey’s Jonathan Kongbo, one of the most sought-after football prospects in the United States, has signed on with the University of Tennessee.
The 6-6, 260-pound Kongbo had verbally committed to Tennessee in November but waited until today, national signing day, to confirm that he will indeed join the Tennessee Volunteers next season.
The Holy Cross grad, who played junior college at Arizona Western, was also pursued by NCAA heavyweights Ole Miss, Alabama, USC, Washington, Oklahoma, Florida State and Oregon.
The five-star defensive lineman was rated as the No. 1 overall junior college prospect after posting 55 tackles (16 tackles for loss) and 11 sacks last season.
