Vancouver police investigators have located and talked to three men seen photographing inside Pacific Centre Mall this week.
“All three men were cooperative with investigators and they had a very logical explanation regarding their behaviour. The investigation has conclusively determined that their actions were completely innocent,” Const. Brian Montague said in a news release.
He said the VPD had been investigating a call made to police regarding the men who were described as acting suspiciously at the mall on January 12th.
Vancity Buzz broke the story of the investigation Thursday night. VPD said the bulletin obtained but the news site “was not intended or authorized to be shared with the general public. The information was part of an internal police bulletin circulated amongst police officers throughout the province of B.C.”
“Vancouver remains a very safe city and the public should have no concerns about shopping at Pacific Centre or attending any other public place,” Montague said.
The story has generated a debate about whether or not media outlets should have used the photos from the VPD bulletin. I had them on the blog when we believed the information had been released by the police. The Sun’s editors decided we should remove the photos when we learned that they had not been released.
