Hall of Fame defenceman and Florida Panthers homer broadcaster Denis Potvin is sorry for calling Canucks forward Daniel Sedin a “lowlife.”
Potvin hurled the insult at the classy Swede after the Canucks forward scored the winning goal in Vancouver’s 3-2 overtime victory over the Panthers at Rogers Arena Monday.
Potvin also made a goofy comment concerning the Sedin twins, their fingers and peanut butter that no one quite understands.
“The Sedins are pointing fingers now … normally they only use those fingers to lick the peanut butter off their bread,” he exclaimed.
Potvin’s brain should probably apologize to his mouth.
In a statement released by the Panthers on Wednesday, Potvin offered his sincere apologies.
My choice of words at the conclusion of the Vancouver game on Monday should have been more appropriate. In the passion of the moment and under the circumstances of how the game ended, they came out wrong. For that I’m going to extend my sincere apologies to Daniel Sedin, Trevor Linden and the Canucks organization.
Following Sedin’s goal, the two teams engaged in a pushing and shoving match with plenty of name-calling near the Florida bench.
