The Vancouver Giants are hitting hyperdrive and hosting a Star Wars night a full two weeks before Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens hits big screens on Dec. 18.
The Giants will be decked out in Stormtrooper-inspired jerseys when they host the Kelowna Rockets in a Western Hockey League battle on Friday, Dec. 4 at Pacific Coliseum.

Hopefully the Giants prove to be more adept at shooting than actual Stormtroopers while wearing the white jerseys with black trim.
Proceeds from the game, which the team says will also feature appearances from other Star Wars characters, will benefit the Shriners of B.C. and Yukon and their work with Shriners Hospitals for Children.
“We’re thrilled that we will be able to host this great event for our fans while also benefitting a very worthy cause,” Dale Saip, Giants vice president of business development, said in a press release. “The Shriners Hospitals help children around the world, and it’s an honour for our hockey club to be able to work with the Shriners to help kids in our province.”
The Stormtrooper jerseys, which are Lucasfilm approved, will be auctioned off following the game.
