Vancouver Police have arrested a man in Calgary Thursday in connection with a home invasion last June during which a young girl had a gun pointed at her.
Rouslan Erchov, 28, is now facing several charges. including robbery, use of an imitation firearm, break and enter and unlawful confinement.
The home invasion took place on June 17 at a home on Dieppe Drive and East 18th Avenue in Vancouver.
Two men dressed in reflective work vests forced their way into the house, Const. Brian Montague said in a release. “One of the men was in possession of a gun.”
“Police were told that while inside the home, one of the men pointed a gun at a seven-year-old child who then went to her parent’s bedroom and handed a jar of change over to the thieves,” Montague said. “In addition to the coins, a number of undisclosed items were stolen from the home, including a unique Rolex watch.”
On July 23, police released images of the suspects from surveillance cameras, which showed that one of the men had unique tattoos.
“A number of tips were received and investigators expanded their search to include other provinces,” Montague said.
After Erchov was arrested, he was interviewed by Vancouver investigators. He will be transported back to B.C. to face the charges here.
“This was a shocking and traumatic robbery for the seven-year-old child and her family,” Montague said. “Investigators worked meticulously and diligently to identify, locate, and arrest this man to hold him accountable.”
Anyone with information about the second suspect is asked to call the VPD Major Crime Section at (604) 717-2541.
Erchov has no criminal history in B.C. according to the court’s online database.
