Watch two members of Mother Mother, one of Vancouver’s most popular indie bands, take a lovely turn on the Keys to the Streets piano at the Spyglass Dock near Cambie Bridge.

Jasmin Parkin handles the keys while Ryan Guldemond strums the guitar as they harmonize a beautiful one-take version of ‘Worry’.

Adam Sharp, who produces the Keys to the Streets videos for Big Smoke Media, says it’s the first time the pair have ever recorded this song, although they have been playing it live for eight years.

“We met up with Jasmin and Ryan on a hot afternoon in July, immediately after the shadow of the Cambie Bridge had moved far enough to soak the piano in the scorching heat of this glorious Vancouver summer,” writes Sharp. “Between the street art and the spectacular view of the city, this is probably one of my favourite pianos to film, and as a resident of the Cambie Village neighbourhood, I’ve come across countless impromptu performances of all shapes and sizes on my seawall strolls.”

The organizers behind Keys to the Streets have launched a fundraising campaign to help pay for the maintenance and upkeep of the public pianos, which are set in 10 Vancouver locations from Stanley Park to Kingsway. You can donate money to your favourite piano or to the program in general.
