Vancouver has a new police chief.
The Vancouver Police Board announced Thursday that Deputy Chief Adam Palmer would replace retiring Chief Jim Chu.
The 28-year veteran of the VPD was one of two deputy chiefs shortlisted for the top cop’s job.
The other contender – Deputy Chief Doug LePard – withdrew from the competition to support Palmer, Police Board chair and Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson said.
