A B.C. Supreme Court judge dismissed an application by Surrey Six killers Cody Haevischer and Matthew Johnston to stay their murder charges, but agreed their rights were violated by “egregious” police misconduct and prison conditions that were “harsh in the extreme.”
Justice Catherine Wedge agreed with defence lawyers that the state misconduct in the case was “serious, prolonged and systemic.” But she disagreed that it warranted staying all charges.
